Oklahoma State Is Looking for Just Its Fourth 7-0 Football Start … Ever
Oklahoma State squares off with Kansas on Saturday looking to go 7-0 for the fourth time ever. The first came in 1945. That team didn’t lose a game, beat OU 47-0 in its eighth game and smoked St. Mary’s in the Sugar Bowl.
Somehow, it finished ranked No. 5 in the final AP Poll that season.
OSU did it again in 2008 getting all the way to a No. 7 ranking before losing at Texas. The other team that did it was the 2011 squad. You all know what happened there.
It’s not a small thing, either. There are currently only 14 FBS teams undefeated, and the deeper each gets into the season, the more this on momentum applies.
And OSU seems ready. Or at least its mighty leader on defense is.
“We’ve moved right on to Kansas,” said Glenn Spencer at the end of last week. “We’ve already got the game plan. We have scouting reports done. We’re just having extra practices now.”
On to Kansas. On to 7-0. On to Halloween in Lubbock. On to November.
