Adacia Chambers Is Well Enough to Stand Trial for Homecoming Tragedy, April Date Set
There is no correct way to feel about any of this of course. I don’t feel good, I don’t feel happy, I certainly don’t feel sad. It’s strange news to consume and becomes even more difficult to swallow as the weeks and months roll on.
Adacia Chambers will officially stand trial as a competent individual for the deaths of four people at the 2015 Oklahoma State Homecoming parade in October, it was ruled. Here’s Samantha Vicent of the Tulsa World.
A judge on Thursday ruled that the woman charged in the deaths of four people after she drove through a homecoming parade at Oklahoma State University in October is competent to stand trial. Judge Louis A. Duel scheduled a preliminary hearing for 25-year-old Adacia Chambers on April 7.
Chambers has been at Oklahoma Forensic Center in Vinita since Nov. 17 after Duel ordered she receive a competency evaluation. Court documents state Chambers was heard saying she was “going home forever” just before the crash, and that she told Stillwater jail staff she was suicidal at the time she caused the collision but not at the time she was booked.
The entire thing is worth reading as we look to the spring when Chambers will stand before a court.
Chambers was in the courtroom today – she said nothing and didn't appear to acknowledge family when they tried to get her attention.

Chambers looked solemn, stone-faced as she walked into courtroom. Family waved from the gallery.
