Recruiting
Options Remain for QB Keondre Wudtee
There has been speculation that LSU may be reconsidering their evaluation of in-state talent Keondre Wudtee, a Bossier City standout whose recruitment has exploded with offers from Mizzou, OSU, and TCU in recent weeks. However, there is evidence that leads me to believe that is pure speculation. At least for now.
Recruiting has evolved so much so that when one coach follows a recruit on twitter, it’s assumed they are moving in on said recruit. Which often times, is the case. Which is why the fact that LSU offensive coordinator Cam Cameron began following Wudtee on twitter – and Wudtee followed back – is such a big deal.
But at the moment, LSU is trying to close on another Louisiana quarterback, with an official scholarship offer being extended to Lindsey Scott, a 5-11 prospect from Zachary, Louisiana. Scott will make an official visit to Baton Rouge on Jan. 29, and I personally would be shocked if he didn’t commit on or directly after the visit.
If that were the case, LSU would likely not be in pursuit of Wudtee, therefore not threatening the Pokes for a chance to land his services.
Of the options Wudtee has, the spots may be closing in quickly.
Missouri offered Wudtee last week, but Oklahoma quarterback prospect Micah Wilson – a Boise State commit, announced he flipped his commitment to Missouri last night, which I assume would at the least make Wudtee’s scholarship offer slightly less appealing if not off the table altogether.
According to Rivals, Wudtee will make an official visit to TCU this weekend and a visit to Mizzou the following week. It’s yet to be seen if Micah Wilson’s commitment will have an impact on Wudtee’s decision, but my guess is that it could be coming down to a two-way race between OSU and TCU for the standout quarterback. And a decision may be drawn all the way out to national signing day.
