Dieringer, Heil Win NCAA Title, Team Places Second

The NCAA wrestling championships wrapped up late on Saturday evening, but not before two Cowboys took home individual NCAA titles.

Alex Dieringer took home his third consecutive NCAA title at 165-pounds, with a 6-2 decision over Wisconsin’s Isaac Jordan. And 141-pounder Dein Heil took home an NCAA title of his own with a 3-2 victory over Wyoming’s Bryce Meredith.

As a team, Oklahoma State finished second place behind the Nittany Lions. Here’s the final tallies via OSU’s wrestling account:

“There’s a lot of emotions there,” Dieringer said. “I was kind of a little conservative, but in the situation I was in, it was hard to get overaggressive. But I’m very pleased with 82 matches in a row with a third national title in the most historic arena in the world. So it’s a pretty amazing feeling.”
