Brad Underwood Joked That Phil Forte Should Transfer to Boise State
This usually works the other way around, doesn’t it. Aren’t college coaches supposed to hire their star players’ high school coaches to further entice them when they first come to college? Instead, Brad Underwood recently hired Phil Forte’s high school coach Danny Henderson.
Underwood showed his humorous side when he tried to convince No. 13 to play a joke on the man he won two Texas state titles with.
“He was like ‘hey, my next hire is going to be Coach Henderson'” said Forte. “You should give him a call and tell him you’re transferring to Boise.’ That’s what he told me at first. I went right away and called him.”
“I actually got emotional,” said Henderson. “I know my voice started breaking up. Just the thought of getting to coach Phil again is beyond my wildest imagination.”
