The Reload: Tylan Wallace at The Opening, Four-star Tailback Planning Visit, Brown Sets Commitment Date
The Reload is PFB’s recruiting recap, catching you up to speed on the latest news and rumors surrounding Oklahoma State recruiting, with an ear to the ground for what to expect in the future.
2017 linebacker target Devodrick Johnson planning visit
Dallas area standout Devodrick Johnson, an extremely strong human being who named OSU in his top 10 schools, will make a visit to Stillwater soon according to a report from Rivals.com analyst Nick Krueger. Along with OSU, he also plans to visit Texas A&M, and Mississippi State. And while OSU has been in the mix since the early goings of his recruitment process, A&M is going to be a major threat for Johnson, especially with him being a Texan. I get the sense that at the moment, the Aggies from College Station are probably the clubhouse favorite along with Texas Tech, while OSU and Mississippi State continue their efforts to jump into serious contention. But with the Cowboys earning a visit, they’ll have a chance to roll out the red carpet and prove how they want to use him.
2017 safety prospect committing Wednesday
Somewhat of a surprise announcement came on Tuesday as four-star Ashdown, Arkansas prospect Montaric Brown took to twitter to announce he will make his commitment.
Brown’s top 5 includes Arkansas, Alabama, LSU, Auburn and OSU.
“Talking to my family today and coach, I wanna announce that I am committing tomorrow at 3:00,” he said on twitter. “Not on my birthday (As was originally planned), nobody forced me to do this, this was my choice and I think it’s going to be better for me.”
However after making that announcement, he posted to twitter just hours later that after talking with his family, he will wait until the end of the month to commit.
Because of the urgency in his somewhat abrupt announcement to commit yesterday before changing his mind, I think a school probably told him they may not be able to hold his scholarship spot much longer until they commit.
Although Gundy has been neck and neck with Saban and Bielema in Brown’s recruitment, I think both schools have pulled ahead in recent weeks. And with Brown announcing that he would move his commitment up, obviously before changing his mind, it has all the makings of an SEC school requesting an early commitment so they can move along with their momentum. Just another sign that OSU may be headed for a third place finish here, barring anything unforeseen coming up in the next few weeks.

Four star running back planning visit to Stillwater

Tulsa Union Power Forward Planning Visit
Per a report from prephoops.com’s Matt Reynolds, 2017 power forward Ethan Chargois, a 6-7, 230-pound prospect from Tulsa, will plan to take a visit to OSU sometime after July.
Chargois is an interesting prospect who has real Div. I talent, with listed offers on 247sports from OU, OSU and Tulsa. However, Chargois’ OSU offer was from Travis Ford’s staff — and he is still seeking an offer from Underwood and his crew. OSU has several other feelers out at the moment with 2017 power forwards, but Chargois is one to keep an eye on over the next month to see where the new staff views him.
