Rudolph: ‘Nothing’s Going To Change, I’ve Been a Leader From Day One’

I was really curious to see what Mason Rudolph had to say at Monday’s Big 12 media days. This was the first time Mike Gundy had tossed a QB on the prop plane with him from Stillwater to Dallas since 2011 when Brandon Weeden probably made the plane reservations.

Rudolph did a great Gundy impression, talked about his love for Bieber (no judgement) and then got serious about this season.

I love when Rudolph is asked questions about J.W. Walsh. It always bristles ever so slightly. I know a lot of you think I love to try and manufacture the drama, but this isn’t drama. This is an alpha dog being an alpha dog. Which is vital to any college football team’s success. Rudolph certainly looks and acts the part. Seems like he lives it too.

“Nothing’s going to change [now that J.W. is gone],” said Rudolph. “I’ve been a leader from day one. I’m fired up to be around these guys, these teammates. So many people have grown up. A lot of the receivers and offensive linemen are a lot more focused than they have been in the past.”

Gundy repeatedly talked about Rudolph’s leadership and body on Monday. Both of which will be the most important components of OSU’s season if it hopes to embark on another 10-win year.
