WATCH: OSU 2017 QB Commit Woods Shows off Skills in Opening Game of Season
Last weekend, 2017 Oklahoma State QB commit Jelani Woods showcased his skills in an abbreviated performance against Stephenson High School, going 10-13 for 114 and 2 touchdowns before being pulled, because his team was up 34-9. It was Woods’ first game of the year for Cedar Grove High School, who hung on to win the game 34-23. Take a look at Woods’ memorable plays from the game below.
As you can see from the highlights, Woods did it all, showing off the arm strength on several deep balls and firing bullets on crossing routes that makes Cowboys coaches so excited to get him on campus next year. He also showed good athleticism evading defenders within the pocket and knowing when to take off and run.
At 6’7 and 230 lbs., Woods is an imposing presence in the pocket, with the height to easily scan the field over linemen and the rocket arm to throw over the top of the defense, with an easy release to boot. Woods is currently ranked by 247 Sports as the No. 28 pro-style QB in the 2017 class but is rising fast, and looks to be a steal for the Cowboys for next year’s class.
