Grading the Uniforms: Is The Marshal Badge As Good As The Brand?

Published

on

I will be grading OSU’s uniforms each week using a criteria consisting of five categories.

Four of the five categories are on a scale of 1-5. The helmet will have its own rating; aesthetics will be a rating of the flow of the uniform as a whole; the intimidation factor will simply be how intimidating the uniform looks; the accessories will be a rating of the gloves, socks, shoes, and sleeves. Additionally, the Cowboys get a point for winning. A perfect score is 21 points for the GOAT.

Helmet (4)

The helmet was the only major difference from Week 1, so this is going to be a very similar review. I really like this helmet because it shows the willingness to change things up. The Marshal Badge is a great tertiary logo for Oklahoma State (quaternary if you consider Pistol Pete and Phantom Pete as separate entities).

There aren’t many universities that can say that about their logos. Although it was tough to see from a distance, it looked good on TV. I think it has potential to really pop on an orange helmet as well. I’m ranking this up there with the helmet from Week 1 because it’s unique, but the helmet from Week 1 edges it out just barely. I’m loyal to the brand, what can I say?

Aesthetics (5)

Classic. Love it. The reflective lettering on the pants complements the Marshal Badge logo on the helmet. It’s the little things.

Intimidation (3)

Wait, didn’t you say the Intimidation Factor was only a 2 in Week 1? Yes. But when you stripe the stadium and stripe the uniforms, it’s just better. From the equipment staff to the Paddle People, job well done.

Accessories (5)

I saw several players wearing the longer socks/white tights and it looked clean with those white shoes. James Washington had the white wristbands and the white towel – he looked like a million bucks 296 yards.

Win (1)

The weather delayed the inevitable.
