Matt Ammendola On Stillwater: ‘I Fell In Love’
Future Bachelor contestant Oklahoma State kicker Matt Ammendola recently discussed what it’s like to be the only kid from Pennsylvania on the OSU football team and why Mike Gundy nicknamed him “Philly.”
“I never thought a school this beautiful — with the atmosphere here — would come in and talk to me about football,” said Ammendola. “I fell in love right when I came in [to the stadium].”
I love it.
Ammendola is handling kickoff duties and is actually performing quite admirably. OSU is No. 41 in the nation in kick return coverage after finishing No. 90 last season. It has 14 touchbacks through six games after totaling just 22 all of last season.
Ammendola is getting touchbacks at a 36 percent rate compared to 24 percent from Ben Grogan last season. It should only get better from here as Ammendola has three more years to develop his leg at a place he clearly loves.
