Five-star Point Guard Trae Young Will Sign in Late Period
One of the biggest targets remaining on the board for head coach Brad Underwood is five-star point guard Trae Young, the state’s top ranked prospect from Norman North High School. And although recent reports suggested he may be leaning towards an early decision in the early signing period this week which began today, Young announced today that he will proceed with his original plan and sign in the late period.
I'll be Signing in the Late Period?

“I’m probably going to end up signing late and waiting and seeing these teams play,” Young told Rivals. “I was debating about going ahead and getting it over with and I kind of felt like I knew where I wanted to go. Me and my family continued to talk it out and we decided that we probably want to wait.”
The five-star point guard has already completed his five official visits to Kansas, Kentucky, OSU, Texas Tech and Oklahoma; the Cowboys receiving his final visit for homecoming two weeks ago. Interestingly, he thinks he already had his mind made up — and the news of his potential early signing came up just shortly after his visit to Stillwater.
Read into it as you will, but although an early decision may have favored OSU, the Pokes still remain in contention with the latest news. And they will have several months to continue to try and reel him in. As for now, the biggest recruiting tool Underwood can deploy will likely be the on-court product between now and the signing period.
