Mason Rudolph Breaks 3,000 Yards For Consecutive Seasons
Mason Rudolph broke the 3,000-yard mark in the first half of the Texas Tech game. Rudolph came in with 2,989 yards with 22 TDs and four picks. He threw for 395 yards and two more TDs and now has the third and fourth-most passing yards in a season ever.
Best passing seasons in #okstate history:
Weeden: 4,727 yds ('11)
Weeden: 4,277 yds ('10)
Rudolph: 3,770 yds ('15)
Rudolph: 3,381 yds ('16)— Pistols Firing (@pistolsguys) November 13, 2016
Rudolph is among incredible company as he and Brandon Weeden are the only two Oklahoma State quarterbacks to ever reach 3,000 yards in multiple seasons.
“I thought Mason matched (Mahomes),” said head coach Mike Gundy. “He was really good today. He missed maybe one or two throws today, but mentally, he was really sharp.”
We can argue back and forth about whether Rudolph is THE best quarterback in school history (let’s talk about this after his tenure in Stillwater), but he is definitely putting up numbers worth our greatest respect and he is inking his name into the record books in Old Central.
So go on and wave that arm and sway to the alma matter with the cheerleaders, Mr. Rudolph. You deserve it.
