Offensive Line Coach Greg Adkins Fired From Oklahoma State
According to a report from the Tulsa World’s Mark Cooper, Oklahoma State has dismissed its offensive line coach Greg Adkins after just two seasons.
Taking over a struggling unit two seasons ago, Adkins was part of the rebuilding of the offensive line group that rose to new heights in 2016, producing its first 1,000 yard rusher in four years. And by a freshman, no less.
But recruiting under Adkins, specifically this last cycle, lead to a tough spot for OSU. Three offensive line recruits eventually decommitted from Oklahoma State and landed at either Texas or Texas A&M.
Mike Gundy said earlier this week the goal was to take four offensive lineman in the 2017 class. But only one recruit signed: JUCO left tackle Arlington Hambright.
With the move (and eventual replacement), Oklahoma State will have its fourth offensive line coach in five years joining Joe Wickline, Bob Connelly, Greg Adkins and whomever Gundy appoints to take over.
