Mike Gundy’s Message to his Team Ahead of South Alabama Game
Mike Gundy and his Cowboys face their first road challenge of the season on Friday night against South Alabama.
Unlike many years ago when Oklahoma State went on the road and lost a stunner to Troy, Gundy feels his team is more mature (mat*yur) than that team – and he put the onus on his team and its leaders to be juiced up when game time rolls around.
“We’ve talked about preparation and playing on the road and I stressed to them early in the week the importance of respecting every opponent. And then you hope that the maturity of your team takes over,” Gundy said.
“Coaches can only install so much information in players and then they choose to absorb whatever they want. We’re a much further along program than when we’ve played in a game like this in the past. Anybody on any day is susceptible to not playing well, but I have a lot of confidence that our guys will play well.”
