Freshman Tracker: J.D. King Sees Diminished Role in TCU Loss

Published

on

True freshman tailback J.D. King has been a workhorse all season behind All-American Justice Hill, but his role was greatly diminished in the conference opener as Hill trudged for 25 rushes and 101 tough-earned yards.

King logged just one carry for 7 yards — the only other tailback besides Hill to get a touch in the game as OSU struggled to establish a presence on the ground in part because of two new faces at both right guard and right tackle.

“He’s [Justice is] our best back, so any time he’s ready to go we’re going to call his number,” offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich explained of his plans with Hill and King against the Frogs. “If there’s a point in time when [Hill] needs a break, we give him a break. But it’s just a matter of him being a more experienced guy and a guy we can count on.”

Let’s take a look at where the rest of the youngsters stand in the stat sheet following the 44-31 loss to TCU from Saturday.
