Texas recruited Thurman Thomas as a defensive back
The spirit of Mack Brown lives.

I thought this joke was dead but it lives, oh how it lives.
Mack Brown famously recruited both Johnny Manziel and Robert Griffin to Texas in the last few yeras as defensive backs and both went on to win the Heisman.
In the 1980s Mack Brown wasn’t around but Texas recruited Thurman Thomas as a defensive back as well!
Seriously!
Here’s the audio of Thomas on the Scott Van Pelt show talking about that and what it was like to play with Barry Sanders.
Also, hat tip to Pokelahoma for the alert:
That the Mach Brown recruited as a DB extends to Texas recruited Thurman Thomas as a DB makes me so happy
