NFL Roundup: Dez Hits a Career Milestone and Lane Taylor Makes the Most of Position Change
Another week of NFL football has come and gone and several former Cowboys were active and in the headlines. Let’s start with a fan favorite who got to “throw up the x” for the third time this season.
Dez Bryant
Dez caught five of his eight targets for 52 yards and this, his 70th career touchdown.

That ties Dez for fourth among active career leaders with Rob Gronkowski, behind only Antonio Gates, Larry Fitzgerald and Brandon Marshall.
Rank | Player | TD | Years | Tm |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Antonio Gates | 112 | 2003-2017 | sdg |
2 | Larry Fitzgerald | 106 | 2004-2017 | crd |
3 | Brandon Marshall | 82 | 2006-2017 | 5TM |
4 | Dez Bryant | 70 | 2010-2017 | dal |
4 | Rob Gronkowski | 70 | 2010-2017 | nwe |
6 | Jordy Nelson | 69 | 2008-2017 | gnb |
7 | Jason Witten | 65 | 2003-2017 | dal |
8 | Jimmy Graham | 60 | 2010-2017 | 2TM |
9 | Vernon Davis | 58 | 2006-2017 | 3TM |
10 | Mike Wallace | 54 | 2009-2017 | 4TM |
It also makes Bryant’s just third touchdown of the year and unfortunately coincides with the Cowboys’ third loss.
Emmanuel Ogbah
The second-year Cleveland Brown continues to shine on a defense that might be good but is definitely hidden by an historically bad offense on a winless Browns team. Ogbah tallied five more total tackles against the Jets on Sunday for 18 total on the season. He also shares a team-leading two sacks on the year.
Vincent Taylor
The rookie defensive has seen his workload increase as the weeks have gone on, especially with Jordan Phillips inactive due to injury. Taylor and fellow rookie Davon Godchaux traded off reps beside Ndamukong Suh. Taylor recorded two tackles and helped corral Tennessee’s normally stout running back duo of DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry.
Lane Taylor
For the second-straight week, Lane Taylor lined up at left tackle, one spot over from his natural guard position on a Green Bay Packers offensive line that has been decimated by injuries. Taylor’s group paved the way for 160 yards on the ground for the Pack at 6.4 yards per carry in Dallas, both season highs. That rushing attack, spearheaded by rookie Aaron Jones’ 125 yards, helped set up the Packers for yet another comeback win off the arm (and feet) of future Hall of Famer, Aaron Rodgers.
Dan Bailey
Bailey made his only field goal attempt from 43 yards and made all four PATs. It’s just a normal day at the office for the NFL’s all-time most accurate kicker. Unfortunately, it did not lead to a win for the Cowboys.
Russell Okung
Okung’s Chargers finally got their first win of the season and Philip Rivers continued to be one of the least-sacked QBs in league. Okung and Co. didn’t allow a single sack in Los Angeles’ 27-22 win over the New York Giants.
Chris Carson
One of the surprise stories of this season took an unfortunate turn with rookie Chris Carson’s injury in Week 4. The former Oklahoma State back underwent ankle surgery last week and was placed on injury reserve by the Seahawks.
