How OSU Has Fared in Homecoming Games Under Mike Gundy
Mike Gundy is 8-4 in homecoming games since taking over the reins at Oklahoma State.
After losing in consecutive homecomings to begin his head coaching career, he boasts a respectable 8-2 record — highlighted by a statement win over then-ranked No. 10 West Virginia last season, and a punishing defeat of TCU in 2013 which was part of a seven-game winning streak before falling in Bedlam and the unofficial Big 12 title game.
OSU faces a tricky 0-5 Baylor team in homecoming this weekend and, despite going winless to date, has been competitive in Big 12 play. The Bears switched quarterbacks from graduate transfer Anu Solomon to Zach Smith, and as Gundy noted earlier this week, the change has drastically altered the complexion of the Bears squad.
“We haven’t looked at their first three games since they changed quarterbacks,” said Gundy. “I’m fairly certain that this is who they’re going to be offensively and with the suspensions and such that they’ve had, you can pretty much throw the first three games away.”
With a win this weekend, Gundy could move to 9-4 on homecoming games. But it’s probably safe to say he likely cares not about his records of the past, and is only focused on keeping his squad in Big 12 title contention with a win this weekend.
Here’s a look at how OSU has performed in years past under Gundy in homecoming games.
