Brett McMurphy on how he reported the error in SI’s story
Some great stuff here by Brett McMurphy on reporting stories, Oklahoma State, and what his story from today means for SI.
Brett McMurphy joined me on the podcast to talk about how he reported his story today on when Tatum Bell was enrolled in school and how Fath’ Carter never graduated from Oklahoma State.
I thought the part about why he first started looking into it was pretty fascinating. We talked some about what else we expect from SI, the fatigue of college football scandals on the whole, and why the NCAA might never touch OSU.
I also appreciated that he said he wasn’t just out to debunk the story but to try and prove stuff with physical evidence.
And the best part might be when he said “it might be 100% true…well, it might be 99% true.” Awesome stuff.
