Oklahoma State playing like a No. 1 seed
Ken Pom says Oklahoma State might be the best team in the country (it’s early, we know).
We’re five games into the college basketball season, which means it’s time to obsess over Pomeroy ratings. Right?
Just me? Fine, then.
Here are today’s Pomeroy ratings in scatterplot form.
I’ve done this with F/+ ratings for football. The better your defense is, the closer you are to the “east” side of the chart. The better your offense is, the closer you are to the “north” side of the chart.
I charted all 351 teams in college basketball – all of those blue dots represent a team. I labeled each of the teams in the Big 12 so you can get an early idea of where the teams in our conference stack up.
No surprise: OSU and KU are in their own elite category, with Iowa State and Baylor in the second tier.
Pomeroy currently predicts OSU will finish 26-3 (15-3) with a 1.7% (1 in 59) chance of going undefeated. That is No. 1 seed stuff right there.
