Barry Sanders won the Heisman 25 years ago today
This video of Barry winning the Heisman is pretty awesome.
Couple of things here:
1. That first shot includes Major Harris (WVU — far left), Rodney Peete (SC — far right), Steve Walsh (why are you here?), Barry, and Troy Aikman’s mullet.
2. Barry reacts like somebody just told him he was running “toss right” on first down. Coolest individual honor in sports outside of a green jacket? Don’t care.
3. Karie Ross — Not Erin Andrews.
There was a great story about how Keith Jackson was calling the USC-UCLA game late in the season and mentioned that the Heisman race was down to Aikman and Peete.
Yeah, voters kind of disagreed with that.
