A Look at the Football Prospects Who Visited Oklahoma State During Texas Basketball Weekend
It’s not football season but for Oklahoma State coaches, it’s just as busy. With the live contact period in full effect as of this week, the coaches have been, and will continue to be, very busy over the next two weekends with junior day festivities and signing day approaching.
Take a look at some of the big name visitors who were on campus this weekend.
Aaron Brule
Former UGA pledge Aaron Brule out of Metairie, Louisiana, is currently on an official visit to Oklahoma State this weekend. The three-star 2018 prospect from The Boot is deciding between OSU and TCU, many believe, and this will be a pivotal day and a half towards where he ultimately decides.
Oklahoma State likes Brule as a potential high school safety-turned college outside linebacker. He’s got great size and excellent mobility a la Josh Furman who could develop into a pass-rushing threat. TCU, however, appears to have the lead in his recruitment going into the home stretch.
Sinoe Vaki
Sione Vaki out of Brentwood, California, was on campus Saturday for junior day. The 6-foot rising receiver holds just one offer at the moment from Tennessee, but it appears to be only a matter of time before he blows up. A sneaky good prospect out of the slot and, surprisingly, a fan of the Pokes offense.
“I really like Oklahoma State and their offense,” he told 247Sports recently. “Cal, Stanford and USC are all schools for sure I’ll be interested in. An offer from Cal would be really nice. I like them a lot and they’re close to home.”
Rashee Rice
Three-star North Richland Hills receiver Rashee Rice was another among the many visitors on Saturday. With offers from Wazzu, Tulsa, SMU and Texas Tech, Rice fits the mold of an under-the-radar guy who OSU will likely continue keeping tabs on.
Rice had a breakout 15 touchdown, 1,200 yards receiving junior season and won’t be a hidden gem for long.
Demariyon Houston
Perhaps the big dog of the visitors from the weekend, Millwood High School’s Demariyon Houston dropped in with fellow teammates. Houston is a stellar four-star, top-200 prospect who has already picked up an offer from the Pokes and is a top target for 2019.
Marcus Major
Houston brought his fellow teammate and rising star Marcus Major (along with Major’s brother Isaiah). Marcus is an unranked prospect, for now, who has picked up offers from Memphis and Arkansas, with more coming. My guess is Oklahoma State gets involved soon, pending other offers already out the door.
Garrison Johnson
Speaking of running backs ….. Manvel prospect Garrison Johnson was also on campus. A three-star with offers from Nebraska, Indiana, SMU and UTSA, he comes from a high school powerhouse known for churning out Division I athletes.
Nolan Matthews
Oklahoma State is more than set at tight end for 2019 in Grayson Boomer, but the coaches hosted 2019 Reedy High prospect Nolan Matthews for junior day. Reedy has two offers from Howard and Texas State and could be an intriguing option if OSU wishes to add two tight ends to its 2019 class.
Jordan McCray
Jordan McCray is the last of the notable visitors on campus this weekend. The Ennis, Texas native has just two offers from Howard and Stephen F. Austin but has the mold of an offensive guard at 6-foot-3, 315 pounds.
We will update this post if and when more visitors pop up in the coming days.
