Oklahoma State’s golf team won its sixth event in a row last week, and it will aim for the all-time record of seven straight at the beginning of April. Let’s take a look around Stillwater to see how OSU’s teams are performing.

The Cowboys earned first-place finish No. 7 (of eight events!) on the season with a five-shot victory at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational in Palm City, Florida.

The Cowboys are now tied for the second-longest win streak in program history with six. OSU’s 1974-75 and 1975-76 teams both won six tournaments in a row as well, with the 1986-1987 Cowboys holding the school record at seven.

Sophomore Viktor Hovland finished first overall in the tournament with a 13-under 200. With Hovland’s first career win, he becomes the seventh Cowboy on the roster to boast such an achievement.

Freshman Matthew Wolff also placed in the top 10, finishing in ninth place at 212 and giving himself his fifth top 10 finish in his last six starts.

The Cowboys’ next tournament is the Aggie Invitational on April 7 in Bryan, Texas.

The No. 15 Cowgirls also had a successful tournament performance over the past week, finishing third in the PING/ASU Invitational at Karsten Golf Course. Senior Emma Broze finished in eighth place with a 2-under 214, giving her a fourth-straight top-15 finish for the spring.

The Cowgirls now prepare for the Dale McNamara Invitational in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on April 9-10.

Tennis

After defeating No. 22 Dartmouth in Stillwater, the No. 15 Cowboys rolled in Maui with a 7-0 victory over Hawaii. The win moves OSU to 16-4 on the season. The Pokes have won seven of their last eight contests and return home on Wednesday to take on Fresno State at 5 p.m.

The Cowgirls fell to No. 8 Texas in Austin, but they will look to turn the tide this week with a matches against No. 33 Wichita State on Friday and in-state rival Oklahoma on Saturday.

Track and Field

OSU took four event titles in the Arkansas Spring Invitational over the weekend in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

OSU’s Luis Martinez and Latriceia Smith both took home gold in the men’s 1,500 meter and women’s 800 meter, respectively, with the former missing the meet record by five-hundredths of a second.

Sinclaire Johnson also claimed first in the women’s 800-meter invitational section, earning first in 2:09.55 and ranking No. 11 in NCAA outdoor time for the year.

The final victory came in the the women’s 4×400-meter relay, as Nicolette Dixon, Danielle Coleman, Stephanie Ferrante and Amira Coleman ran a 3:42.08 to finish first and rank No. 4 on the OSU all-time performers’ list.

The Cowboys and Cowgirls now prepare for various events across the country this week, sending members of the team to the Texas Relays, ORU Invitational and Stanford Invitational in pursuit of regional qualifying marks.
