Amauri Hardy Still in Limbo Despite Hiring of Boynton

Oklahoma State basketball pledge Amauri Hardy is still in a state of limbo in regards to his commitment status, despite the hiring of Brad Underwood’s former assistant coach Mike Boynton on Friday. Hardy, who has been committed to the Cowboys since December, says he hasn’t yet heard from the newly-minted head coach but is looking forward to doing so.

“I haven’t talked much to Coach Boynton besides when I went on my official visit to OSU,” Hardy told Pistols Firing. “He was a real cool guy. He played at the Division I level so I’m sure he has some knowledge for the game of basketball.

“I don’t know much about him as a coach,” Hardy continued, “So I can’t really judge him. I know he has worked with some phenomenal head coaches, so I’m sure he’s picked up some great tips and pointers from them.”

Boynton was introduced informally as the head coach on Friday afternoon. Since that time he’s been making the rounds in the media and in the public. He’ll be introduced in a formal press conference on Monday afternoon, but between the schedule, he’s figuring out the details of his coaching staff — along with determining the recruiting plan moving forward which likely includes an effort to keep Hardy in the fold. All of this will likely happen very quickly.

Said Hardy: “I’ve had time to think about the hiring of Coach Boynton. I’m really just waiting to hear from him to get his take on things going forward and [I’ll make my decisions] from there.”
