Bartlesville’s David Castillo Labeled Five-Star Prospect in Initial 2024 Rankings
Castillo picked up an OSU offer in March.
David Castillo set Oklahoma 6A basketball ablaze this past school year as a freshman, and recruiting services are starting to take notice.
ESPN put out its initial Class of 2024 rankings last week, and Castillo, from Bartlesville, was ranked as the No. 11 player in the class and a five-star prospect.
Oklahoma State offered Castillo in March, becoming his second offer behind only Tulsa. As things stand, those are the only schools on Castillo’s offer list that is sure to balloon over the coming years.
He averaged 23.7 points a game playing on the varsity team as a freshman. He dropped 43 points on Ponca City in January.
Along with being one of 14 five-star prospects in the 2024 class, Castillo also attended a USA Basketball U16 minicamp in May.
A 6-foot-2 point guard, Castillo is shifty and excels in isolation scenarios. He plays a lot older than he is, as well, often recognizing when an extra defender slides over to help and finding an open teammate.
The state of Oklahoma is producing more and more high-level basketball prospects. It’s still early with Castillo, but he sure is on an excellent pace to be one of the state’s next greats.
