Happy Friday to everybody, and happy bye week, as well! Hope you guys enjoy the weekend. I wanted to give a quick update on our contributor program because I get a lot of questions about it. We’re up to 320 contributors, and it’s difficult for me to describe how important this has been to our site this year.

Because 320 of you are supporting us, we have been able to hire a developer (to hopefully cure what ails our server), hire more writers, start work on a new podcast (?), invest in our t-shirt inventory and feel like we have a little breathing room so we can spend more time on posts and not just chase clicks all over the internet (I know many of you think I write about Mike Yurcich just to chase clicks).

Anyway, our goal is to get to 500 by the end of the season. I think we can do it. The more people we can bring on board, the better the site is going to read, look and become. I’ve already started thinking about what 2018 is going to look like from a #content perspective as well as what we need to change to the site to make it even better (and whether a redesign is in the cards).

I was listening to this terrific podcast with Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz this week, and something he said really resonated with me. He said “growth is not a strategy,” and he’s right. I can grow our site and our contributor base by telling you guys I’m giving out 100 free mullet shirts to everyone who signs up, but that’s not a good strategy. Creating high-quality videos, podcasts, analysis and blog posts is a strategy, though, and your financial help allows us to do that. Hopefully the return for you is just as beneficial.

You will receive your store credit via email the Monday after you sign up. To view the site ad-free, just make sure you’re signed (you can do so at the top right on any page under contribute —-> sign in).

Your email address will not be distributed to anyone when you sign up. The only thing you will receive from us is a monthly receipt for your contribution as well as maybe the occasional surprise via email. All payments are by credit card through Memberful with Stripe as the payment processor.
