Bedlam Beatdown: Women’s Hoops Races Past Oklahoma 96-82
Jim Littell’s Cowgirls made a big-time Bedlam statement on Sunday as they rolled past Oklahoma easily in round one of this year’s Bedlam series, 96-82.
After trailing 26-22 to end the first quarter, OSU’s defense put the clamps on and limited the Sooners to 4 second quarter points — a season-low for OU, and ultimately, the difference in the game.
“You look at the box score and the second quarter was the difference in the game,” OU coach Sherri Coale said via the Tulsa World. “In the second quarter, our shot selection was bad, we got out of rhythm and we couldn’t score.”
Oklahoma State was paced by a 31-point offensive explosion from transfer Loryn Goodwin, who continues to be a revelation for OSU. Kaylee Jensen finished with 27 points of her own and Braxtin Miller and Maria Castro each poured in 14 apiece.
With the win, the 20th-ranked Cowgirls improved to 12-3 on the season and 3-1 in Big 12 play with wins over Texas Tech and Kansas State filling out what is turning in to a solid NCAA Tournament resume already.
The Cowgirls travel to Manhattan, Kansas to face K-State for a second time this season on Jan. 13 before welcoming West Virginia into Stillwater on Jan. 17.
