Kenny Gajewski and the Cowgirls made a late addition to their 2025 recruiting class by way of an in-state ace.

Former Owasso pitcher Preslee Downing has signed with Oklahoma State, the program announced Monday. Downing previously signed with Stephen F. Austin but will now be a Cowgirl. She was the Tulsa World‘s All-World Player of the Year as a senior after leading the Rams to a state title by going 24-3 with a 1.10 ERA and 261 strikeouts in 162.1 innings pitched.

“After Preslee decommitted from her previous school, she was someone that we had real interest in,” Gajewski said in OSU’s release. “We love her bulldog mentality and the way she attacks the strike zone. We’re looking forward to her making an impact in her first year.”

Downing adds to what was already an impressive group of incoming freshmen for Gajewski that includes a pair of NFCA All-Americans (pitcher Makala Smith and two-way star Aubrey Jones). Downing also joins an Owasso classmate in Stillwater in Jayelle Austin, an outfielder who hit .606 in the Rams’ state title-winning season.

Downing had a high school career record of 76-9 with a 1.11 ERA and 705 strikeouts. She was named the 6A-1 District Pitcher of the Year on three occasions.

“Being a Cowgirl means everything to me,” Downing said in OSU’s release. “I’ve played softball my whole life dreaming of a moment like this; competing for a major program, representing my home state, and wearing a jersey that actually means something to the people around me.

“It’s more than just softball now. It’s pride, loyalty and a chance to be part of something bigger than myself. I don’t take that lightly, and I’m ready to give everything I’ve got.”
