Big 12 Bowl Schedule Set for 2017-18

[PFB]

Shout to Berry Tramel for catching this one, but the Big 12’s 2017-18 bowl schedule is set so we know when OSU could play this postseason. Let’s take a look at the New Year’s Day 6 first.

Because the Sugar Bowl is a semifinal game this year, there will not be a Big 12-specific tie in. Last time this happened, TCU went to the Peach Bowl and Baylor went to the Cotton Bowl. The Big 12 is guaranteed at least one NYD6 game.

I could envision a scenario in which, say, OU gets into the Sugar as a playoff representative and Oklahoma State goes to the Cotton against a Big 10 team. Maybe Michigan?

  • Rose Bowl (semifinal) — Monday, January 1 at 4 p.m.
  • Sugar Bowl (semifinal) — Monday, January 1 at 7:45 p.m.
  • Peach Bowl — Monday, January 1 at 11:30 a.m.
  • The Fiesta Bowl — Saturday, December 30 at 3 p.m.
  • The Orange Bowl — Saturday, December 30 at 7 p.m.
  • Cotton Bowl — Friday, December 29 at 7:30 p.m.

Here are the other Big 12-affiliated bowls.

  • Alamo Bowl — Thursday, December 28 at 8 p.m. (Pac-12)
  • Camping World Bowl — Thursday, December 28 at 4:15 p.m. (ACC)
  • Texas Bowl — Wednesday, December 27 at 8 p.m. (SEC)
  • Liberty Bowl — Saturday, December 30 at 11:30 a.m. (SEC)
  • Cactus Bowl — Tuesday, December 26 (Pac 12)
  • Heart of Dallas Bowl — Tuesday, December 26 (CUSA)

Hopefully — hopefully — Oklahoma State isn’t worried about anything less than an Alamo Bowl this season, but there you go. There they all are. The fun part about all of this is that OSU will likely already have most of its 2018 class of recruits locked up (because of the early signing period) so coaches, players and fans can just relax and enjoy the festivities.

“I could envision a scenario in which, say, OU gets into the Sugar as a playoff representative and Oklahoma State goes to the Cotton against a Big 10 team. Maybe Michigan?”

Why are we always so “realistic”. The best teams out there assume they will win. Part of being one of these dominant programs is the attitude. We haven’t done it yet, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have the swagger that can help carry us the rest of the way. I could envision a scenario where we crush OU twice, go to the playoff and bring home Oklahoma State’s 2nd Football National Championship.

I am enough of a realist in my regular life. No tempering of expectations. Bottoms up on that Orange Kool-Aid!!!

Agree and thought the same thing. Why not start thinking, “I could envisage scenario in which, say, OSU gets into the Sugar as a playoff representative and Oklahoma….”?

I envision OSU playing the Rose Bowl (since I’m in Arizona), KState in the Fiesta Bowl (2nd fav Big 12 team, and I’m in Arizona), WVUgetting the Alamo Bowl, and OU getting the Campers World Bowl at the KOA Kampground, and Texas in the Heart of DooDoo bowl in Big D.

Khakis vs. Mullet? It better not happen under a dome – Too much crazy in that atmosphere.

I’m glad you aren’t leading the team Porter. Your vision sucks!!!

  • OSU Student

The Alamo committee likely won’t select OSU for a repeat spot, so I’d say anything less than the Sugar bowl would be a bust for OSU. I know it sucks doing it, but OSU reallllllyy needs OU to be good enough to take a playoff spot. I say this because no one else in the big 12 is good enough but us and them, and the only way OSU can miss out on the playoff and still get a NY6 spot is if another Big12 team gets a playoff spot. Of course I’d like us to be the ones in that playoff spot over OU, but at least if OU is up there, we have a chance either way.

OSU Student flunks School Spirit 101. You need to head up to NEO for a couple of years to write JuCo articles for Porter.

      • OSU Student

OSU Student claims that anything less than a NY6 bowl would be a bust, because he believes OSU is too good to be in anything less than a NY6 bowl. OSU Student then claims that the only two teams capable of a bid for the playoffs from the Big 12 are OU and OSU. Then, non-college-graduate replies by randomly claiming OSU Student has no school spirit. https://goo.gl/images/MbGMUU

I’m sorry I hurt your feelings.

Oh, it’s quite alright.. I’ll be okay, I think. Don’t lose too much sleep over it!

The hype on OU is way misplaced. They just maybe the best running duo in the country and one of the best receivers in the country but somehow they will be better than last year? No way they are in the play off. The only team from the big 12 that has a chance is OSU. If they don’t make it, nobody will.
