Big 12 tournament recap: Day 3
OSU hangs on and must beat Texas twice to make it to the championship.
Another crazy day at the Big 12 Tournament on Friday. Here’s what you missed:
OSU Wins Bedlam Yet Again, Moves On To Rematch Against Texas
Maybe it’s me, but this team is back and forth a lot it seems. Two nights ago, the Cowboys managed only five hits and no runs against Texas. Last night against OU, OSU scored 11 runs on 10 hits. The Pokes got off to a decent start, scoring two runs in the top of the 1st, but gave them right back in the bottom half of the inning.
Starter Tyler Buffett struggled, allowing six runs in 3.1 innings. OSU faced a 6-3 deficit in the 6th before taking the lead again, only to give it up in the 7th. But this time it was Bryan Case and Aaron Cornell who became the heroes, with Case hitting a solo shot in the 7th, and Cornell providing the game-winning three-run homer in the 8th.
OSU beat the Sooners for the fifth time in seven tries this season, eliminating OU from the Big 12 Championship. The 11-8 win gives the Cowboys a rematch against Texas, and OSU will have to beat the Longhorns twice Saturday to advance to the championship game.
Good time to hit your first home run of the season.
There they go again – Gap Band! Cornell with a 3-run HR to LF to give #okstate an 11-8 lead in t8. Corny's first HR of season

Baylor Eliminates West Virginia, Sets Up Semifinal Versus TCU
I said Baylor would be gone by the end of the workweek. Maybe they took it personally, but the Bears are still alive in the Big 12 Tournament after taking care of West Virginia yesterday. Six different Baylor players had an RBI, including two BU home runs, giving Baylor the 9-4 win. The Bears now face TCU, who has yet to lose in the tournament.
Times And Matchups For Day Four
Two games are slated for Saturday, though it could be as many as four:
TCU vs. Baylor, 9 a.m.
Texas vs. Oklahoma State, 12:30 p.m.
If TCU loses, it will play again against Baylor at 4 p.m. If Texas loses, it will play again against OSU at 7 p.m.
