Big 12 Update: Cincy Upsets K-State, Colorado Benches Its QB

The Cowboys’ big win in Morgantown wasn’t the only good game the Big 12 had to offer this weekend.

Let’s take a look around the league at some notable results.

Bearcats > Wildcats

Probably the most surprising result in the league this weekend was Cincinnati handing Kansas State its first loss of the season while the Bearcats jumped to 4-0.

The Wildcats kicked a field goal early in the fourth quarter to cut Cincinnati’s lead to 24-20, but Scott Satterfield’s group responded with a 10-play, 75-yard touchdown drive that drained 6:02 off the clock.

That led K-State to put together a 79-yard touchdown drive, but at that point, the clock was working against the Wildcats as there was just 2:11 to play.

The Wildcats still managed to force a three-and-out, but they got the ball back with just 51 seconds to play and couldn’t make it back down the field.

The Bearcats ran the ball for 271 yards against K-State with Gi’Bran Payne and Cole Tabb each running for north of 120.

Former Cowboy Rodney Fields Jr. scored two of K-State’s touchdowns.

Shorthanded Knights Best TCU

UCF is without quarterback Alonza Barnett III for multiple weeks with a hamstring injury, but that didn’t stop the Knights from getting in the Big 12 win column against the Horned Frogs.

UCF beat TCU 21-13, with Knight backup QB Keyone Jenkins going 19-for-20 for 160 yards and a touchdown. Meanwhile Harvard transfer Jaden Craig threw for 310 yards for the Horned Frogs but threw no touchdowns and two picks.

Craig was given next to no support, as TCU finished with just 33 rushing yards, while the Knights sacked him four times.

Julian Lewis Benched in Colorado’s Road Loss in Waco

After an exciting win in Week 0, it hasn’t been a pretty stretch of football for Colorado.

The Buffaloes fell to Baylor 23-13 on Saturday in a game where CU benched starting quarterback Julian Lewis at halftime in favor of Isaac Wilson after the CU offense mustered only a field goal in the opening 30 minutes.

Baylor QB DJ Lagway threw for 221 yards, two touchdowns and a pick.

This game featured five field goals.
