Big 12 Virtual Media Day Still on for Monday
The conference announces its media day itinerary.
After a few alterations and delays, the Big 12 will hold its media day Monday.
In May, the conference announced its media day would be changed to a virtual format on July 20 and 21 amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Then July 15, the Big 12 announced it would actually push that date back with teams not having full access to each other. But after that initial push-back, it looks like things are a go.
A lot of Monday’s event will involved ESPN+.
“There will be two concurrent streams available on Big 12 Now on ESPN+,” the Big 12’s release read. “One stream will be of each head coaches’ media Q&A session, and the other will feature each coach on the Big 12 Now set with ESPN reporters Anish Shroff, Rod Gilmore and Dusty Dvoracek in exclusive 1-on-1 interviews, as well as player interviews conducted by Big 12 Digital Correspondent Morgan Uber. Content will also be posted on the Big 12’s official social media platforms throughout the event.”
Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby will start the event at 9 a.m.
Here is what Mike Gundy’s schedule will look like:
1 p.m. – 1:25 p.m. — Media Q&A
1:30 p.m. – 1:55 p.m. — Big 12 Now on ESPN+
2 p.m. – 2:25 p.m. — ESPN
2:30 p.m. — 2:55 p.m. — FOX
3 – 3:25 p.m. — SirusXM
Somewhere along the move to virtual and delays, player interviews with the media got chopped. So, apart from the interviews with the Big 12 correspondent, no player quotes from any team will come from the event.
