The win moves Smith to 13-0 in his MMA career, which includes a 4-0 record in UFC fights. Only one of those UFC fights have made it to the second round. The other three were stopped in the first.
“This is incredible,” Smith told Joe Rogan in the octagon after Saturday’s fight. “I know I’m gifted. I know I got great opportunities, surrounded with my family, my team, Ranger MMA, DC’s fighting academy. They doing something special with me. Give me one month, and I will be ready for anybody in this division, word to mother. Let’s go.”
Out of Muskogee, Smith was a two-time junior college national champ at NEO before transferring to Oklahoma State.
He went 15-0 while redshirting in his first year as a Cowboy (2016-17) before winning Big 12 titles in his next two seasons.
Smith went 22-8 during the 2017-18 season, finishing eighth at the NCAA Tournament at 174 pounds. He then went 28-5 as a senior, finishing seventh at nationals.
He made his MMA debut in 2021 and has been on the steady climb up the ladder since.
