Bill Self to Receive OSU Alumni Association’s Distinguished Alumni Award
The Hall of Fame coach will be honored by his alma mater.
Kansas basketball coach Bill Self will be one of seven Oklahoma State alumni to receive the OSU Alumni Association’s Distinguished Alumni Award on Friday.
Isabel Baker, Anita Hill, Ann Oglesby, Michael Carolina, Stephen Tuttle and Diane Tuttle will also be honored.
Self played basketball at OSU from 1981-85 before becoming a coach. He took over at Kansas in 2003, and the Jayhawks have won a share of the Big 12 title in 14 of his 15 seasons as coach. KU also won a national title under Self in 2008.
Self received a business degree from OSU in 1985, and in 1989, he got a degree in athletic administration while serving as an assistant at OSU.
There is no word yet on how long Self’s shorts will be at Friday’s reception in Stillwater.
