Bixby OL Bryce Bray Attributes Early OSU Commitment to Family Atmosphere

Bixby, Oklahoma offensive lineman Bryce Bray saw his star rise this spring unlike any other local football prospect. Bray picked up six Division I offers since Feb. 21 from Arkansas State, Nevada, OSU, Tulsa, OU and Iowa State.

Many times being unearthed by the likes of OSU and OU might signal more national attention from Pac-12 or SEC or Big Ten schools, but Bray wasn’t all too interested in other offers. His unofficial visit to Stillwater gave him everything he needed to know about where he’d like to play his college ball.

“The environment, I just fell in love. I get the feeling I fit there and everyone felt like family,” Bray told Pistols Firing.

No better example of family than former Bixby teammate Brendon Evers, a 2017 defensive tackle signee with the Cowboys, who helped guide his younger teammate through the decision process. Bray’s relationship with Josh Henson, OSU’s offensive line coach who has already landed three high school recruits in the 2018 class, was also a big a factor, he says.

“It really helped my decision a lot,” Bray said about his relationship with Henson.

Bray joins Hunter Woodard and Hunter Anthony among OSU’s two high school offensive linemen who have pledged to OSU early in the process, filling OSU’s biggest need of getting young talent up front.

OSU is expected to take four high school offensive linemen in the 2018 class, according to a source. With Bray in the fold, Henson has just one more to go — likely at the center position — to fill out his entire recruiting class.

And it’s not even summer yet.
