Bowl Projections: Where and Who Oklahoma State is Predicted to Play for its Bowl after Week 12
A pair of Alamo, Pop-Tarts and Texas Bowl matchups

Two more weeks of maybes before we know for sure where and who Oklahoma State will get for its 18th straight bowl game.
But for the next few weeks, we’ll still have to make educated guesses and see where pundits from across the country have the Cowboys for their bowl destination.
OSU beat Houston 43-30 on Saturday after a sluggish first half. The week before, the Cowboys were embarrassed in Orlando when UCF beat them 45-3.
Because of how the last two weeks played out, despite a Bedlam win and still being in Big 12 title contention, the Pokes are prime examples of how the most recent perspectives influence these bowl projections the most. A trip to the Big 12 championship game and a win there would obviously negate all of these predictions and put the Pokes in a NY6 bowl for the second time in three years. A loss to BYU on Saturday could send OSU to a bowl fans have never heard of, though.
Here are possible bowl destinations for the Cowboys, according to experts.
Oregon State | Valero Alamo Bowl | 9:15 p.m. Dec. 28 | San Antonio, Texas
The all-orange, all-OSU matchup pops up again from Bill Bender of The Sporting News. People’s instincts are gonna be so confused on when to jump up and cheer if this comes to fruition.
OSU, the one in Stillwater, played in Corvallis in 2019, beating that OSU 52-36. Even that sentence was a little confusing so maybe this wouldn’t be a fun lead up for this matchup.
Arizona | Valero Alamo Bowl | 9:15 p.m. Dec. 28 | San Antonio, Texas
Arizona could be the hottest team in college football right now, rattling off five straight wins. The Wildcats’ most recent win was against Utah on Saturday in a battle between future Big 12 counterparts.
Utah and USC have been predicted to be OSU’s possible opponent in the Alamo Bowl, but as they fall and Arizona rises, this is the first time the Wildcats have been in this spot.
This would be another Big 12 preview, as Arizona will leave the Pac-12 for the Big 12 at the end of this academic year. OSU won’t play Arizona in conference action until 2025, though.
Notre Dame | Pop-Tarts Bowl | 5:45 p.m. Dec. 28 | Orlando, Florida
This has been a pick for the Cowboys nearly every week we’ve been keeping track, both the destination and the opponent. This week, ESPN’s Kyle Bonagura and Jerry Palm of CBS Sports predict an OSU-Notre Dame rematch in Orlando.
The Cowboys and Irish met in the Fiesta Bowl two years ago, with OSU winning a thriller, 37-35. It was the only time these two programs have met, and like I wrote last week, the sequel is almost never as good, so give me a different matchup here.
North Carolina State | Pop-Tarts Bowl | 5:45 p.m. Dec. 28 | Orlando, Florida
Another Pop-Tarts Bowl prediction, and we’ve seen a lot of them, but a brand new opponent this time, according to ESPN’s Mark Schlabach.
Although a common foe on the wrestling mat, the Cowboys have never met NC State on the gridiron. The Wolfpack is 8-3 this season and entered this territory thanks to a current four-game winning streak.
Texas A&M | TaxAct Texas Bowl | 9 p.m. Dec. 27 | Houston, Texas
Not sure a week has gone by yet that this rematch of Big 12 foes wasn’t projected for the Texas Bowl.
College Football News and Steven Lassan of Athlon Sports both predicted it this time around.
The only other time these programs have met since Texas A&M left the Big 12 for the SEC was also in the Texas Bowl. The Aggies won that 2019 meeting, 24-21.
Auburn | TaxAct Texas Bowl | 9 p.m. Dec. 27 | Houston, Texas
Another Texas Bowl projection, but for the first time, against Auburn, according to a trio of analysts.
Auburn just lost to New Mexico State 31-10 at home. That seems on par with losing to South Alabama. So maybe this could be an intriguing matchup.
OSU has never played Auburn on a football field before. First time pairings are always fun.
