Brad Underwood Will Make Between $1-1.5 Million
According to Bill Haisten of the Tulsa World, Brad Underwood came at a pretty big discount. Mike Holder signed Underwood to a five-year deal (which seems about a year or two too long?) worth substantially less than Travis Ford was making.
While former Cowboy coach Travis Ford was paid $2.4 million for the 2015-16 season, it is believed that Underwood agreed to the terms of a five-year OSU contract worth between $1 million and $1.5 million annually.
Ford’s original contract was seven years for $1.3 million a year. He had made one NCAA Tournament, and it wasn’t with UMass. Underwood has two NCAA Tournament wins in three years.
Here’s a look at how the Big 12 coaching salaries stack up (pulled from DMN and USA Today):
Bill Self: $4.75M
Bub Huggins: $3.25M
Jamie Dixon: $3.2M (at Pitt)
Shaka Smart: $2.8M
Lon Kruger: $2.75M
Scott Drew: $2.51M
Bruce Weber: $1.85M
Tubby Smith: $1.7M
Steve Prohm: $1.5M
Brad Underwood: $1-1.5M
So that looks even tastier now, doesn’t it?
