Brandon Weeden Leads Texans in Blowout Win over Titans

The Brandon Weeden led Houston Texans are on the verge of an AFC South title, with the first team in the way being the Tennessee Titans on Sunday afternoon.

Behind Weeden, the Texans  jumped out to a 34-0 lead before allowing points in scrub time and nearly shutting out the hapless Titans, who were without their No. 2 draft pick and franchise quarterback Marcus Mariota.

All of the characteristics that helped Weeden become a first round quarterback were on display Sunday, with his pinpoint downfield accuracy, and even his Clint Chelf-like mobility flashing itself in Tennessee… Kinda. Here’s one of the dimes he dropped to WR1 DeAndre Hopkins:

And his mobility came through clutch, scrambling for a 7 yard touchdown – his first rushing TD of his professional career.

Fortunately, Weeden has himself a Pro Bowl caliber receiver to target, which paid dividends all day. He took advantage of DeAndre Hopkins’ size all day, including this lob up to him for a TD in Weeden to Blackmon style:

Weeden finished the day 15-24 passing, 200 yards, and 3 total touchdowns. His top target – DeAndre Hopkins – finished with 7 receptions for 117 yards and a touchdown.

More importantly, the Texans moved to 8-7 on the season and find themselves in a favorable position in the AFC South.
