Brandon Weeden Moves to Backup, Hoyer Takes Over

Published

Brandon Weeden is moving to backup quarterback for Sunday’s game against Jacksonville, just a week after leading the Texans to a blowout win over the Tennessee Titans on the road 34-6.

Such is life in the NFL.

Quarterback Brian Hoyer, who has been the starter for the Texans all season, is finally out of concussion protocol and is expected to take over starting duties for the Texans, who can clinch the AFC South with a win.

Weeden lead the Texans to two straight victories after coming off the bench on the road against Indianapolis to help the team roar back with 16 unanswered points.

Tough break for Weeden who likely won’t see the field, barring injuries, but at least he isn’t at home watching from his couch.
