Brennan Presley Named to Paul Hornung Award Watch List
An award that was tailor made for Presley.
Watch list season continues.
Brennan Presley is the latest Cowboy to be officially considered for a major award. The Paul Hornung Award is given annually to “the most versatile player in major college football,” a category seemingly tailor made for the senior wide receiver. He’s one of 48 players that was named to its watch list on Thursday.
Presley enters his fifth season as one of the most talented and dynamic players in the Big 12. Last season, he ranked third in receiving yards with 991 (he’s the league’s leading returner) and was fifth in total kickoff return yardage with 411. He was also OSU’s featured punt returner.
He enters 2024 among the most prolific pass-catchers in the Mike Gundy era. Presley’s 225 career catches rank fourth all-time at OSU, his 2,548 receiving yards rank seventh and he’s cracked the top five in kickoff return yards with 1,219. With 4,103, he is just 180 shy of the top 10 in all-purpose yards in school history with still a season head of him.
Presley was also named to the Paul Hornung Award watch list ahead of the 2022 season and was named to the Paul Hornung Award Honor Roll, a weekly honor, last season for his 79 receiving yards, touchdown and 51 kickoff return yards in OSU’s win over No. 23 Kansas.
Previous Cowboys named to the watch list include Jalen McCleskey and Joseph Randle. No OSU player has won the award.
Finalists for this year’s award will be announced Nov. 7, with the winner being revealed Dec. 11. Presley is just the latest Cowboy to see his name on a watch list.
