Buffalo Bills Retire Thurman Thomas’ Jersey During Monday Night Football
The college and pro football Hall of Famer was honored by his former team.
When the Buffalo Bills went to the home locker room at halftime on Monday night, they trailed the New England Patriots 9-3. But a first half deficit could not dampen the mood at New Era Field on this special night.
Hall of Fame running back Thurman Thomas was honored during a halftime ceremony emceed by ESPN’s Chris Berman. A video presentation highlighted his 13-year career that included five Pro Bowls and two First-Team All Pro selections and MVP season in 1991. And it included a shout out from Thomas’ idol and fellow HOFer, Earl Campbell.
Thomas is still the all-time leading rusher for the Buffalo Bills franchise (11,938 yards) as well as holding that same title at Oklahoma State (5,001 yards). He joins former teammates Jim Kelly and Bruce Smith having his No. 34 jersey retired by the organization.
