Carrie Eberle Reportedly Returning to Oklahoma State as Pitching Coach

Eberle was dominant in the circle in two seasons with the Cowgirls.

After John Bargfeldt unexpectedly retired this offseason, Kenny Gajewski is is set to bring home an alum to take charge of his pitching staff.

Carrie Eberle, an All-American pitcher at Oklahoma State, is set to join the Cowgirls as the team’s pitching coach, according to Justin McLeod of Extra Innings Softball.

After her playing days finished, Eberle stayed in Stillwater as a graduate assistant for the Cowgirls for the 2022 season. She spent this past season as Lipscomb as the Bisons’ pitching coach. A member of the Atlantic Sun, Lipscomb went 21-29 this past season. Under Eberle’s guidance, Lipscomb’s team ERA dropped from a 4.92 in 2022 to a 3.97 in 2023. The Bisons’ batting average against also dropped from a .300 in 2022 to a .270 in 2023.

Eberle transferred to Oklahoma State from Virginia Tech ahead of the 2020 season. In two seasons (one and a half because of the pandemic) with the Cowgirls, Eberle was 36-5 with 47 pitching appearances. She had a 1.13 ERA as a Cowgirl and a .184 batting average against.

The Cowgirls pitching staff has been put under a microscope as of late after ace Kelly Maxwell entered the transfer portal last week. OSU is set to return Lexi Kilfoyl and Kyra Aycock, two pitchers who 234 2/3 innings this past season. Kilfoyl, a transfer from Alabama, was 16-5 with a 1.70 ERA and a 1.88 batting average against. In her freshman season, Aycock threw 95 innings where she was 9-2 with a 2.51 ERA and a .264 batting average against.
