Chris Lacy Claimed Off Waivers by Detroit Lions

Published

on

Former Oklahoma State wide receiver Chris Lacy was a projected mid-to-late round pick by some, especially after his 4.51 40-yard dash at the combine and an impressive showing at OSU’s Pro Day.

Instead, Lacy went undrafted and signed with New England on May 11, but the Patriots released Lacy to make room for guard Jason King.

But just three days after being cut, Lacy was claimed off of waivers by the Detroit Lions.

Detroit has a plethora of wide receivers currently on the roster but is top-heavy in terms of talent and experience. After Kenny Golladay, Marvin Jones and Golden Tate, there is a slew of young wideouts who will be competing for a reserve spot in training camp.

Needless to say, Lacy will face an uphill battle just to make the 53-man roster. But he’s got the physical tools to succeed if given the chance, and the former engineering major definitely has what it takes between the ears.

Detroit started preseason OTAs today, May 21 and its first preseason game is Friday, August 10 at Oakland.
