Despite leading the country in all-purpose yards, rushing yards, rushing yards per game and all-purpose yards per game, Oklahoma State running back Chuba Hubbard finished third in the 2019 Heisman voting results on Saturday … amongst running backs.

Hubbard finished eighth overall behind winner Joe Burrow, Jalen Hurts, Justin Fields, Chase Young, Jonathan Taylor, J.K. Dobbins and Trevor Lawrence. Taylor and Dobbins received nine first-place votes in the race combined, while Hubbard received none.

All things considered, that’s pretty stunning. Hubbard was the best running back in the country this season, but even that went unnoticed this week, as Wisconsin tailback Jonathan Taylor took home the Doak Walker Award, given to the best running back in the country.

Still, Hubbard’s season — 1,936 yards rushing, 21 touchdowns, 183 yards receiving — is an all-timer that etches his name into Oklahoma State lore. As Matt Harris notes here, Hubbard becomes just the seventh OSU player to finish inside the top 10 of the Heisman voting since 1975, and the first time Justin Blackmon finished fifth in 2010.
