Chuba Hubbard Tweets Farewell Message to OSU, Cowboy Fans
Chuba bids a classy farewell to Cowboy Country.
Before Oklahoma State’s regular season finale against Baylor, it was announced via a Mike Gundy quote shared on a radio pregame show that All-American running back Chuba Hubbard was done playing college football and would turn his attention to the NFL.
The news caused quite a stir. Everyone had an opinion on the junior NFL prospect’s life decision, and several felt the need to share theirs. Many of his teammates came his defense on social media, as well.
But on Sunday, Hubbard took the high road, thanking Oklahoma State and its fans for what he called “truly and honor,” his opportunity to represent OSU.
“… This time last year, I decided to return to Oklahoma State for my senior season. I did so to further develop as a player, continue to mature as a man and to play another season in the program I care so much about.
“Since I was a kid, I wanted to play in the NFL and use my platform to provide for my family and impact communities and causes I care so much about. As I rebound from this injury, I have decided to begin my preparations for the 2021 NFL Draft.”
Here’s the entire release.
Hubbard has been battling injury most of the season and was hampered with an ankle issue during his final game against Oklahoma on Nov. 21.
He ends his career as the school’s No. 8 all-time rusher with 3,459 yards thanks largely to his nation-leading 2,094-yard sophomore season. He finished his truncated 2020 campaign with 625 yards and six total touchdowns.
