Two of the five finalists for the Cornish Trophy were Cowboys, including the winner.

Chuba Hubbard was awarded Cornish Trophy on Wednesday, an award given to the top Canadian player in college football. Hubbard becomes to first Oklahoma State player to ever win the award. OSU linebacker Amen Ogbongbemiga was also a finalist.

Hubbard received 19 of the 20 first-place votes with Notre Dame receiver Chase Claypool getting the other.

“It’s an honor to represent Canada, Alberta and my family in accepting this award, and acknowledging all the hard work I’ve put in,” Hubbard said in a release.

Out of Bev Facey in Sherwood Park, Alberta, Hubbard’s 2,094 rushing yards led the NCAA in 2019. He scored 21 rushing touchdowns and was the Cowboys’ fifth-leading receiver, with 198 yards on 23 catches.

Along with winning the Cornish Trophy, Hubbard was a unanimous All-American and the Big 12’s Offensive Player of the year in his redshirt sophomore season.

Hubbard ran for 100 yards in every outing except the McNeese game this past season, where he had only eight carries. He eclipsed 200 yards on three occasions, putting up a career-high 296 against Kansas State.

The trophy presentation was via YouTube given the COVID-19 pandemic. The original plan was to present the trophy to Hubbard in Boone Pickens Stadium in April.

It’s tradition that Cornish Trophy winners sign the back of the trophy, and organizers plan to make it down to Stillwater to get Hubbard’s signature.

This is only the third time the award has been presented with Ohio quarterback Nathan Rourke winning the first two. Hubbard actually tied Rourke in points for the award last year, but Rourke received one more first-place vote to break said tie. Rourke was again a finalist this season.

Here is a look at all the finalists and the voting:

Player Points (First-Place Votes) School Position
Chuba Hubbard 99 (19) Oklahoma State Running Back
Chase Claypool 75 (1) Notre Dame Wide Receiver
Neville Gallimore 45 Oklahoma Defensive Tackle
Nathan Rourke 43 Ohio Quarterback
Amen Ogbongbemiga 34 Oklahoma State Linebacker
