College GameDay Snubs Bedlam, Will Head to Ann Arbor Instead
The GameDay crew will instead cover Ohio State for consecutive weeks.
It’s become something of a tradition that College GameDay — ESPN’s feature show Saturday’s that broadcasts live from campuses across the country — will be in town for Bedlam games that matter.
That won’t be the case this weekend.
The show announced over the weekend that it will instead head to another rivalry up north to cover Ohio State vs. Michigan in Ann Arbor, this coming exactly a week after it was in Columbus, Ohio, covering the Ohio State-Michigan State game because, well, of course.
It will mark the second time the GameDay crew is covering a Michigan game this season and the second time the GameDay crew is covering an Ohio State game this season. It’s the first time since Week 4 of last season that it covered the same team — albeit in different venues — in consecutive weeks during the regular season. The only other teams to get that treatment during the regular season in the last decade are Florida in 2012 and Penn State in 2017 when the latter played — wait for it — Michigan and Ohio State in consecutive weeks.
The Bedlam series should nonetheless get plenty of eyeballs even while GameDay is opting to go elsewhere. The top-10 matchup is scheduled to kick in primetime at 6:30 p.m. on ABC.
