Cowboys Don 1960s Throwback Helmets, Tri-Colored Uniform Combo for Homecoming
The Cowboys are wearing an elite uniform combination against KU.

One of the biggest draws of “America’s Greatest Homecoming” in recent years has become the reveal of whatever special edition threads Oklahoma State’s equipment staff has cooked up.
From the Jimmy Johnson era throwback helmets worn against West Virginia in 2016 to the Bucking Bronco helmets, it’s always a treat. And who could forget the full Barry Sanders era uniform set worn against Texas in 2018? The Cowboys always look nice for Homecoming and this year is no exception.
With Kansas in town for this year’s iteration, Oklahoma State is sporting a throwback-style helmet reminiscent of the white helmets worn against K-State in Homecoming 2017 — but on a sexy black lid, with a sexy orange stripe.
Thanks to our resident uniform guru, Justin Southwell, we’ve pinpointed this throwback to the years 1961-66.
Not to be overlooked is the same black-orange-white, tri-color look that OSU sported against West Virginia with those Jimmy Johnson lids in 2016. That was my own personal favorite uniform combination since the update in 2015, and this one comes in pretty close, though I’ll give the brand the slight edge.
This is just the second time the Cowboys have worn those colors. They won that game against the Mountaineers, 37-20.
