Cowboys Go For Six Straight Big 12 Wins On Saturday Which Is Significant

Oklahoma State will host its last home game of the season (I can’t believe I’m typing those words) this weekend against Texas Tech. It’s going to be a beautiful disaster of a game if last year’s 70-53 result is any indication.

Let’s look at three numbers you should know about this weekend as Kliff Kingsbury and Co. come to Stillwater.

Streaking to end the year

After losing to Baylor, OSU has reeled off five straight Big 12 wins against Texas, Iowa State, Kansas, West Virginia and Kansas State. Saturday would be No. 6. That is significant.

OSU has only won six straight (or more) three other times. They won seven in a row in 2011 (pre-ISU) and 2013 (post-WVU) and eight from the end of 2014 (OU) through the first seven games in 2015 (pre Baylor and OU).

That’s a pretty impressive feat for Mike Gundy.

Big 12 dominance

If OSU wins on Saturday, it would move to 44-17 in Big 12 play since 2010. Only OU currently has a better mark at 46-13. It’s pretty easy to cherry-pick these numbers to make them look favorable for you, but that doesn’t mean OSU’s seven-year run is any less outstanding.

OSU has in a lot of ways been co-top dog with OU this decade in the much maligned Big 12 Conference.

Mike Gundy Has Owned Tech

OSU has won seven straight over Texas Tech. Tech hasn’t beaten OSU in Stillwater since back in 2001. Those are gaudy numbers. So this would be eight straight against the Red Raiders and move Gundy to 10-2 overall against them since he took over in 2005.

That’s great against any team, but it’s especially great against a team that, for all intents and purposes, should probably be your equal in the stat of Texas.
