South Dakota State ended the Cowgirls’ season a few weeks back, but now one of those Jackrabbits is headed to Stillwater.

Haleigh Timmer announced her commitment to Oklahoma State on Wednesday evening. A 5-foot-11 guard, Timmer averaged 12.8 points a game this past season, also tallying four rebounds, 1.3 assists and 0.9 steals a game. She shot 41% (!!) from 3 this past season on 150 attempts, and she’s a career 40% 3-point shooter through three seasons.

“Haleigh is a proven winner and a very crucial addition to our roster as we continue to reload our pieces,” said coach Jacie Hoyt in OSU’s release. “Her work ethic, team-first attitude and competitive drive make her a great fit into our culture. She is a stingy defender and I love her ability to shoot as well as get downhill offensively.”

“If you look at what she has done in close games in the final minutes over the course of her career you can see that she is fearless and knows how to make winning plays when it matters most. She has ice in her veins!”

Timmer scored 11 in South Dakota State’s NCAA Tournament game against the Cowgirls. She has scored 20 or more points six times in her career. She had a career-high 26 against Dakota Wesleyan this past season — a game she went 5-for-6 from 3 in. She recorded a pair of double-doubles in 2024-25: an 11-point, 11-rebound performance against Dakota State and a 14-point, 10-rebound game against North Dakota.

Picking up an All-Summit League honorable mention this past season, Timmer was a second team all-conference selection in 2022-23. She was the Summit League Tournament MVP that season, averaging 17.7 points in three games to help the Jackrabbits to the tourney title. Timmer suffered an injury in the offseason heading into 2023-24 and missed that entire season before rebounding this year.

Timmer is the third pickup the Cowgirls have made via the portal. She joins Amari Whiting (BYU) and Tyla Heard (ORU). By the looks of it, another commitment seems imminent based of Hoyt’s gif tweeting.

The Cowgirls graduated six from last season’s squad that went 25-7, finished third in the Big 12 and made the NCAA Tournament, but they’re set to return Stailee Heard, Micah Gray and Jadyn Wooten. They all played at least 20 minutes a game last season. Plus, the Cowgirls are adding freshman guard Lena Girardi, a top 100 prospect in the nation.
